This project was completed as part of my work at GoPro. The most difficult data for an encoder to process are images composed solely of random pixels. The goal of this project was to characterize the encoder's performance by injecting random pixel images to subject it to qualitative testing and thus evaluate its capabilities. We developed an embedded tool that interrupts the GoPro camera's natural processing workflow and injects synthetic data (our random pixel images). Injecting synthetic pixels into the camera pipeline also allowed us to replay reproducible scenarios for the continuous development of the firmware.
